The ‘ELLE Women In Music’ event is an annual occurrence to celebrate all the powerful and amazing women in the music industry!

It was a night of cocktails, sushi and strawberries held in the Edison Ballroom on 47th and 8th, just off Times Square. And while we talked fashion, Kelly Rowland and Rita Ora serenaded us. Rita played all her hits acoustic while Kelly belted out some Destiny’s Child classics. I was right up on the barrier of the red carpet, squeezing my hand past photographers with their giant box sized cameras so I could whip out the iPhone for snaps. There was no shame in me!

I chatted to editors and writers alike and soaked up an amazing New York night with some of the most amazing talent around. Here’s to a Summer of the same!

Saying all that, a few beautiful days in New York had me dismissing my usual black attire for some colour. The legs came out for the first time (they hadn’t a clue what was going on) and I threw on a yellow blazer I picked up in H&M a few weeks back. Bet I’ve totally jinxed myself and i’ll be back in black jeans & boots tomorrow.

In love with this top too. Picked it up in H&M and was completely drawn to the colour. It’s kinda lime but kinda like a neon lime. Plus the material is very soft and comfy, not constricting. Necklace was picked up in Forever 21 and I get stopped whenever I wear it by someone asking where I purchased because it’s quite unusual and looks handmade more-so than store bought! I just said store. Yank.

His collection was ‘ballerina’ themed. Think puffy fairytale dresses, feminine long floaty gowns, lots of white, blush and mint with lashings of pearls and beading. Metallic brogues featured heavily, as did ultra glitter brogues in pinks and blue hues. Stilettos with large bows fastened to the heel were seen in an array of pastel colours. Although his collection was very girly in colour, it also dabbled in masculine tailoring. Shirts, blazers, fitting trousers with the aforementioned brogues as the chosen accompanied footwear.

His collection was a complete success and has accumulated several reviews applauding his work. I’m just delighted to have been a part of it.

I’m working with an event management company for the week that handles the production side of shows/handles the transfer of the collections for the designers! It’s 14 hour days and my feet feel like I’m standing on glass at the end of the day but it’s so exciting. Being given an ‘Access All Areas Pass’ and being able to stroll around Lincoln Center is pretty cool. 

So Friday was the ELLE fashion show which took place in the David Koch theatre, where Actress Christina Ricci (Mermaids, Casper) came backstage to get a glimpse of all the commotion (she’s TINY, like 4ft 8) , as did famous blogger Bryan Boy. Alexa Chung was in the audience, and the paparazzi went into a flurry outside when Nicki Hilton strolled by. My job included handling the guest list, issuing VIP passes, signing in models, helping them put on their seven inch heels and then grabbing their hands and walking them downstairs in those seven inch heels after they walked the runway for their next quick change. It all gets so mental backstage, everyone in walkie talkies, models flinging clothes and such but it’s such a great buzz. Didn’t take many pics, but here’s what I have. Also included is my outfit for the show, I had to wear black!

I just spent today wandering around Lincoln Center perving on all the fashionable peeps darting around Broadway and Amsterdam. There were some cray outfits and some amazingly beautiful ones. I even got my own photo taken by four photographers! Pretty damn cool!

So here’s today’s ‘perving’ outfit complete with my plaid pants. I heart them.

So basically, Im off in New York for a while! And so far, I’m completely in love with the place. But God the heat. Irish people are not made for this humidity!

One of the coolest things is that movie scenes have now become my everyday life. Like yesterday I was just chillin’ having wine in Rochefeller Center on 5th avenue. Nipped into Victorias Secret on Times Square. This morning I had coffee and sat in Central Park while I read my emails. I’m also here for New York Fashion Week which is the icing on the cake. Of course you can’t escape the Irish either as I found out whilst out in a bar last night. Turns out my best friends Uncle is the resident chef there! Small world! Was also in getting manicures and pedicures with the gurls today and The Script came on the radio. Fair play to them, they seem to have made it here!

I’m gonna get back into outfit posts and general fashion biz next week, but for now, I’m taking in the sites and enjoying drinking and eating the finer things in life. Here’s the photo anyway. For the look it had to be ‘Futuristic Neon’ in an urban setting. So I chose Irish Rail to help me out! And my amazing sister Jean of course!
